Responding to the anti-Christian propaganda (that twists scripture way out of context in order to gaslight Christians) which states:
He advocated giving away your personal belongings and paying your taxes.
My first response to them would be "You first". Give away your house, your cars, your iphones, your high tech devices, all of your clothes, etc.
Then ask the politicians nationwide (both Democrats/Republicans) and the extremely wealthy elite (liberal elite as well) (Zuckerberg, Dorsey, George Soros, Bill Gates, President Obama, President Trump, Nancy Pelosi, Laurene Powell Jobs, all of the Hollywood Elite, Lady Gaga, Madonna, etc..) to give up all of their wealth. See how that works.
This piece here is also including another post of mine.
I pray that you don't fall for their anti-Biblical nonsense.
And then you have this passage that non-believers will attack Christians with this phrase
However, Jesus quotes only a partial list of the second half of the Decalogue. It appears that Jesus deliberately leaves out the tenth commandment! Before his conversion, as a Pharisee, Paul (Saul) also thought he had kept the law and was blameless (Philippians 3:5, 6).
The legalistic Pharisees focused on external conformity to the law, even though in the inner heart they were full of greed and wickedness (Matthew 23:25-28). When Paul was still under the law, he found this out when he truly faced the full force of the tenth commandment, “Do not covet.”
This commandment spoke to his inner sinful condition, exposed his spiritual bankruptcy, and condemned him as a sinner worthy of death. The law that he thought would bring him life actually brought him death (Romans 7:7-10).
The definition of "covet". Jesus knew he was "coveting" (and he called him out) which is why he told him to sell all of his possessions and follow him.
Jesus is not tell everyone of us to sell all of our possessions. However, it's always a blessing/encouragement to help those in need and not to love $$ more than him/others.
